Ways to Help

Thank you for your interest in contributing to PLANT!'s ongoing effort to preserve agricultural land and to support local farming in San Mateo County!

If you believe that sustainable and local agriculture are valuable and benefit you, supporting PLANT! is the best way to ensure that it will continue to be available to future generations for years to come.

There are many ways to support PLANT!:  by donating land directly, by offering an agricultural easement on your land, by making a tax-deductible donation, or by volunteering your time.

Land Donations and Agricultural Easments

Your donation of land or an easement will preserve agricultural land for future generations. Please contact Janina Pawlowski, Director of PLANT! at (650) 364-3360 or at janinap@plantrust.org to discuss how your generous contribution will protect the Bay Area and it's agricultural lands for future generations.

Making a Donation

Your tax-deductible donation will help provide local farmers with such varied resources as agricultural land leases at fair and reasonable prices, farm equipment available to rent, seminars to introduce innovative new sustainable agricultural practices, and insurance alternatives tailored to the unique needs of small farmers.  PLANT! aims to constantly identify new ways to support our local farming community, and the resources we provide change as the needs of the community change.

Volunteering

PLANT!'s efforts are dramatically enhanced through cooperation with the communities we serve.  The vast array of projects we undertake require a similarly vast array of skills and labor, and a project as important as preserving our valuable agricultural land takes a village.  If you are interested in volunteering or working with PLANT!, we are certain we can find a way to put your skills and assets to their best use supporting and enhancing local and sustainable agriculture.

Please call us at 650-364-3360 or email us at janinap@plantrust.org and let us know how you'd like to help.  We will put your name and information into our volunteer database and contact you as soon an opportunity arises that suits your interests and skills.

Here are a few on-going projects we think are important!

PLANT! Farm work parties

PLANT! member farms are frequentlly in need of a helping hand.  Lend yours at construction projects, harvest days, or on-farm events!  Contact us if you're interested in joining a work party.

PLANT! Buying clubs

Is your home centrally located?  Volunteer it as a location for a buying club!  A buying club is a recurring local delivery, where pepole in your community can place an order for any product available from PLANT! member farms, and we deliver it on a scheduled day.  Pick-up times usually last about two hours, and it's a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors and meet people around you interested in where their food comes from.  Volunteering your home or business as a drop spot is a simple gesture that goes a long way towards supporting local farmers and making fresh, wholesome food grown here in the Bay Area more accessible for everyone.  And don't worry, it's easy--we handle all the planning, transactions, and transportation--you simply provide the meeting spot!
